Simply tap and hold on a Dweller and then drag him or her to the desired room to give them a work assignment. At their base levels, each room can be staffed with two Dwellers, and they operate more efficiently if the Dwellers assigned there are high in a specific attribute (Power Generator = Strength, Diner = Agility and Water Treatment = Perception). Early on, you’ll be most concerned with three: the Power Generator for producing Power, the Diner for producing Food and the Water Treatment room for producing Water.

Speaking of rooms, each one produces a different kind of resource.

If you have to make a choice between them, Power is more important than the other two, as rooms will simply shut down without it. Bars for each resource appear at the top of your screen, giving you a look at how much of each resource you currently have on hand, as well as a line that shows you what quantities you need to have to keep everything in tip-top condition.
